Baseball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Purcell's Tenth in Last 13 Outings

Purcell played in-conference for the first time on Monday and got just the result they were looking for. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bridge Creek Bobcats, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Dragons have posted since April 19, 2024.

Parker Page made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.

Page wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Boston Knowles, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Knowles has become a key player for Purcell: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

Purcell is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bridge Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Purcell didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 11-1 win against Shawnee on the 3rd. As for Bridge Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pauls Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
