Basketball Recap: Momence Comes Up Short

Momence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 80-55 to the Peotone Blue Devils. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Momence Athletics this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-28 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Momence lost, don't look at Erick Castillo. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 13 on his way to 18 points. Austin Lynch was another key player, going 5 of 8 en route to 12 points.

Momence's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Peotone, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-12.

Momence didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-43 defeat against Iroquois West on the 1st. Peotone has also already played their next match, a 65-49 victory against Woodland on the 1st.
