Basketball Recap: Elkhorn South Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Alexa Eddie and Mollie Probasco

If Elkhorn South was feeling good fresh off their 83-36 takedown of Omaha Northwest last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Elkhorn South Storm took a 70-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bellevue East Chieftains on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Storm in their matchups with the Chieftains: they've now lost six in a row.

Mollie Probasco and Alexa Eddie certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Probasco went 7 of 15 en route to 25 points along with five boards and three steals, while Eddie went 5 of 8 on her way to 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Macy Schnieder, who posted five points.

Bellevue East's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tniyah Wilson-Smith, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 boards. Another player making a difference was Mya Weber, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 16 points and seven rebounds.

Elkhorn South's record now sits at 2-8. As for Bellevue East, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elkhorn South will take on Benson at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Elkhorn South knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Benson likes a good challenge. As for Bellevue East, they will face off against Lincoln Southwest at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln Southwest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
