Basketball Recap: Douglass Skates Past Bluestem with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Douglass). They took their match on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 66-25 win over the Bluestem Lions. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.

Leading Douglass to victory were Wyatt Moore and Brody Rush. Moore went 6 for 8 on his way to 14 points in addition to seven steals and five assists, while Rush went 10 for 16 on his way to 21 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Moore a new career-high in assists. Jace Pichler was another key player, putting up five points and five steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Douglass was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Douglass has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. As for Bluestem, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Douglass will head out to challenge Central on Friday. Central's defense has only allowed 28.4 points per game this season, so Douglass' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Bluestem, they will venture away from home to face off against West Elk at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bluestem is facing West Elk at the right time seeing as West Elk is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
