Basketball Recap: Promyse Dent Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Midlothian

Monacan won the last time they faced Midlothian and things went their way on Monday too. The Monacan Chiefs were the clear victor by a 71-49 margin over the Midlothian Trojans. Given the Chiefs' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Trojans are ranked 284th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monacan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Promyse Dent, who went 8 of 12 en route to 20 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Amare Cooper, who posted 19 points and eight boards.

Monacan's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-4. As for Midlothian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.

Monacan will have a chance to go back-to-back against Midlothian: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
