Softball Recap: Chardon Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

While Chardon's victory against Perry wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hilltoppers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pirates 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hilltoppers have posted since April 14th.

Not much got past Alexa Anderson, who gave up just four hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Perry off the board. Anderson has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emma Anderson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Chardon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Perry, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chardon will host Tallmadge at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hilltoppers are on a four-game streak of home wins, the Blue Devils an eight-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. As for Perry, they will welcome Jefferson Area at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
