Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 16-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Skyline Coyotes. Even though they lost, the Jackrabbits' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Mailyn Ortiz Cabezas put in work no matter where she played. She pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Leah Alcala was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-4. Andreina Garcia Contreras also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Mesa's record is now 1-8. As for Skyline, the victory snapped their losing streak at ten games and leaves them with a 3-16 record.

Looking ahead, Mesa will take on Westwood at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Skyline, they will challenge Gila Ridge at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Coyotes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
