Basketball Recap: Bubba Sims' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Williams over Northeast Guilford

Williams lost against Northeast Guilford back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bulldogs fell 78-69 to the Rams. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bubba Sims, who shot 4-for-7 from downtown and almost dropped a triple-double with 20 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Sims' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Colby Elliott was another key player, going 9-for-19 to rack up 27 points and eight boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Williams fell to 4-1. As for Northeast Guilford, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Williams will be home for the holidays to greet Cummings at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Cavaliers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Northeast Guilford, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against High Point Central at 8:00 p.m.
