Baseball Recap: Rushville-Industry Extends Winning Streak to Three

Rushville-Industry hadn't done well against Mendon Unity recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Rockets walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Mustangs. Winning may never get old, but the Rockets sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Macon Kessler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Bennett Fretueg was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Rushville-Industry's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 3-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Rylan Reimolds was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

The win got Rushville-Industry back to even at 8-8. As for Mendon Unity, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.

Coincidentally, Rushville-Industry and Mendon Unity will both be playing Seymour the next time they take the field. The Rockets will head out to face the Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Mustangs will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
