Softball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Carson's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Carson had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 26-run drubbing they dealt Gardena on Monday. The Colts' pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 26-0 shutout. Considering the Colts have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Isabella Campos looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Kayleigh Allen was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and five runs. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Atiana Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Carson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive matchups.

Carson is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 18-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Gardena, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Carson is set to challenge their familiar foe Narbonne at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Gardena will face off against rival San Pedro at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
