Recap: Summit Academy Knights vs. Laurel Spartan
This season hasn't been kind to The Summit Academy Knights, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 30-6 walloping at the hands of Laurel on Friday. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.
Among those leading the charge was Ben Hennon, who rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Another player making a difference was Luca Santini, who threw for 77 yards and two touchdowns on only three passes.
Summit Academy's defeat was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.2 points per game. As for Laurel, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summit Academy will square off against Union Area at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Union Area presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Summit Academy in Pennsylvania (Union Area is ranked 176th, while Summit Academy is ranked 538th). As for Laurel, they will head out on the road to face off against Shenango at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
