Baseball Recap: Hennessey Comes Up Short

After flying high against Blackwell on Tuesday, Hennessey came back down to earth. The Eagles came up short against the Perry Maroons on Thursday, falling 11-5. The Eagles have struggled against the Maroons recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Hunter Weber and Hayden Hubbard stepped up to the plate in a big way. Weber went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Hubbard went 2-for-3 with two runs. Alex Gonzalez was another key player, earning three RBI.

Hennessey's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Perry, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 16-10 record.

Coming up, Hennessey is taking a road trip to challenge Fairview at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellowjackets have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Perry, they will square off against Piedmont at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
