Baseball Recap: Stringer Comes Up Short

Stringer had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it eight. They fell 5-0 to the Sacred Heart Crusaders. The Red Devils were not able to make up for their loss to the Crusaders from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for Sacred Heart, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games.

For Sacred Heart's part, the result came thanks to Jameson Phillips's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up 15 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Colter Garner, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stringer will host Puckett at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Sacred Heart, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Laurel at 6:00 p.m.
