Baseball Recap: New Smyrna Beach Comes Up Short

New Smyrna Beach managed to slip by Lake Mary the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The New Smyrna Beach Barracudas lost 14-8 to the Lake Mary Rams on Wednesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Barracudas, who until this game were averaging four runs allowed.

Teague Carosella was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Landon McLain, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

New Smyrna Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Lake Mary, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 5-9 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Smyrna Beach will head out to face off against Deltona at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The match will give New Smyrna Beach their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Lake Mary, they will head out on the road to square off against Hagerty at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hagerty will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
