Preview: Gospel Light Christian vs. Triad Baptist Christian Academy Titans
Gospel Light Christian will head out on the road to take on the Triad Baptist Christian Academy Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Gospel Light Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Friday.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Gospel Light Christian, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-33 loss to Woodland Baptist Christian. While losing is never fun, Gospel Light Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 446th, while Woodland Baptist Christian is ranked 167th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Maggie Jo Church, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last six times she's played. Ali Phillips was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Triad Baptist Christian Academy posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They had just enough and edged Millers Creek Christian out 36-34.
Gospel Light Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Triad Baptist Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Gospel Light Christian came up short against Triad Baptist Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 51-45. Can Gospel Light Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
