Football Recap: Crete Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Nick Wendt and Peyton Steuer

Crete extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-5. They fell 31-21 to the Ralston Rams. The Cardinals were down 28-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Crete's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Peyton Steuer, who picked up 109 receiving yards and a pair of scores, and Nick Wendt, who threw for 216 yards and three TDs.

As for Ralston, the victory got them back to even at 3-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for they.

Ralston found their leader in sophomore Baer Blecha, who rushed for 162 yards. The Rams are 2-1 when Blecha posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

Coming up, Crete will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln Northwest at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The Cardinals will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.8 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Ralston, they will look to defend their home field on the 10th against Gretna East at 7:00 p.m. The Rams will need to watch out since the Griffins have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
