Softball Recap: Grenada Now 12-4 over Last 16 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Grenada rose to the challenge on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Neshoba Central Rockets, sneaking past 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Chargers: when they faced off against the Rockets on Thursday, they had to take a 7-4 defeat.

Mary Taylour Wilbourn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Grenada saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Woodard, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Grenada has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. As for Neshoba Central, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 21-8 record.

Grenada will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rockets: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
