Preview: Scott Beavers vs. Hugoton Eagles
Scott is 1-9 against Hugoton since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Scott is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Scott suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They fell just short of Southeast of Saline by a score of 49-47. Scott has struggled against Southeast of Saline recently, as their match on Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Scott got a solid performance out of Jackson Rumford, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Rumford hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Sage Stoecklein was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Hugoton unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to Sterling.
Scott has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. As for Hugoton, their loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-2.
Scott couldn't quite finish off Hugoton in their previous matchup on Friday and fell 43-40. Can Scott avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
