Softball Recap: Archbishop Mccarthy's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Six

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Archbishop McCarthy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against the Florida Christian Patriots by a score of 7-2. The win was familiar territory for the Mavericks, who have now won six matchups in a row.

Sienna Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over eight innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Schneider, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Sophia Jimenez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Archbishop McCarthy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Florida Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.

Looking ahead, Archbishop McCarthy will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Doral Academy at 6:00 p.m. The Firebirds' pitching crew has only allowed 1.1 runs per game this season, so the Mavericks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Florida Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Palmer Trinity at 4:00 p.m. on the 23rd.
