Basketball Recap: Legion Preparatory Academy's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Legion Preparatory Academy extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Rieyan DeSouze. The Legion Preparatory Academy Bulldogs came out on top against the Dyersburg Trojans by a score of 59-52 on Saturday thanks in part to DeSouze, who posted 17 points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

When it comes to explaining why Dyersburg lost, don't look at Joya Crawford. Despite the final result, she went 12 of 22 on her way to 29 points and six rebounds. Crawford's afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chelby Jordan, who had nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Legion Preparatory Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for Dyersburg, with the loss, they broke their ten-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-2.

Legion Preparatory Academy and Dyersburg should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in their respective state rankings. Legion Preparatory Academy (ranked ninth) will meet Kinkaid (ranked 50th) at 12:00 p.m. on January 18th. Legion Preparatory Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 74.8 points per game this season. Similarly, Dyersburg will challenge Humboldt at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 227 places (13 vs. 240).
