Basketball Game Preview: Eureka Loggers vs. Arcata Tigers

Eureka hasn't had much luck against Arcata recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eureka Loggers will be playing at home against the Arcata Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Eureka didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Fortuna, but they still walked away with a 56-50 victory. Given the Loggers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 329th, while the Huskies are ranked 742nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Arcata had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.7 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They walked away with a 56-47 win over the Panthers.

Arcata has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Eureka, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-8.
