Softball Recap: Wyoming East Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Wyoming East extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 6-8 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Bluefield Beavers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-11 on April 3rd.

Carli Raye spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Alivia Monroe was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Reagan Bower, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

As for Bluefield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Bluefield's side, Maddie Lawson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Lawson a new career-low in hits (zero). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Audra Rockness made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Taylor Mabry was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Wyoming East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bluefield, they will welcome Summers County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Beavers are facing the Bobcats at the right time seeing as the Bobcats are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
