Baseball Recap: Faith Academy's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Faith Academy had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. Everything went their way against the Vigor Wolves as they made off with a 12-1 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-0 on Friday.

Braydon Wright and Brody Lambert made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Wright pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lambert pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Wright got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Lambert scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Lambert a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Grayson Finch looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.

Back at the plate, Cooper Smith was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carlos Ortiz, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Faith Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Vigor, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Faith Academy will face off against Florence at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Florence has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Vigor, they will challenge Blount at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
