Baseball Recap: Menomonie Comes Up Short

Menomonie couldn't beat Holmen on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Mustangs fell 10-5 to the Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-7 on Friday.

Max Erickson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Landon Mittlestadt, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Menomonie's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Holmen, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Menomonie will square off against Superior at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.83 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Holmen, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Tomah at 4:30 p.m.
