Baseball Recap: Wayne Takes a Loss

Wayne had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 12-11 to make it five. They lost 10-2 to Lexington. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, Wayne couldn't push the score so high this time.

Wayne saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon Dill, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

As for Lexington, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-15. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

On Lexington's side, Colby Haynes made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, Haynes posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last two contests. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Buddy Cormany, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Gavrie Williams also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Wayne does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lexington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Little Axe at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.07 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
