Baseball Recap: Middletown Comes Up Short

Middletown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They fell 6-2 to the New Britain Golden Hurricanes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Dragons of the 4-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2017.

Nicco Nardi made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Jake Haniewski was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Middletown's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for New Britain, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middletown will venture away from home to square off against Plainville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Britain, they will head out to face off against Platt at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Golden Hurricanes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
