Soccer Game Preview: Derry vs. Charleroi

The Derry Trojans are taking a road trip to face off against the Charleroi Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Derry has struggled recently with eight defeats in a row, while Charleroi will arrive with seven straight victories.

Derry fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against West Shamokin on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Wolves by a score of 3-2.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Tuesday. Charleroi's defense stepped up to hand Yough a 4-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Charleroi, who have now won nine matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Derry's loss dropped their record down to 1-11-1. As for Charleroi, their win bumped their record up to 12-3.

Derry might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Charleroi when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
