Football Recap: Incarnate Word Academy Takes a Loss

If Incarnate Word Academy was riding high fresh off their 57-12 takedown of Jubilee Lake View University Prep last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Angels took a blow against the Medina Bobcats on Friday, falling 87-37. The Angels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Defeat or not, Incarnate Word Academy got some senior leadership from Damian Salazar and Eli Becker. Salazar rushed for 158 yards and two TDs, while Becker gained 137 total yards and three touchdowns. Salazar's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 158 rushing yards dating back to last season.

Incarnate Word Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Medina, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Incarnate Word Academy will head out to square off against Bruni at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Medina, they will venture away from home to take on Runge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will need to watch out since the Yellowjackets have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
