Recap: Medford Tech Jaguars vs. Pemberton Hornets

The Medford Tech Jaguars posted their closest win yet this season on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Pemberton 57-55. Given Medford Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Pemberton is ranked 263rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Tre Powell, who scored 27 points along with three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nesta Rice, who scored 14 points along with five assists and two steals.

Medford Tech's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.6 points per game. As for Pemberton, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Medford Tech won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Westampton Tech at 5:15 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Westampton Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Friday. Pemberton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cinnaminson at 5:15 p.m. on January 18th. Cinnaminson will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
