Baseball Recap: Madison-Grant Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Madison-Grant walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers 4-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-4 back in April.

Xavier Yeagy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Gilman, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

The win made it two in a row for Madison-Grant and bumps their season record up to 16-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Alexandria-Monroe, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-12.

Looking ahead, Madison-Grant will challenge Eastbrook at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Argylls' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. Alexandria-Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
