Baseball Recap: Stroud Wins Going Away Against Drumright

Stroud made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Drumright, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tigers blew past the Tornadoes 14-5 on Tuesday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

Josh Fine made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Jerry Cropp and Cal Shields did most of the damage at the plate: Cropp went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Shields went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Shields has become a key player for Stroud: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Dylan Baker was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Stroud kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Stroud has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Drumright, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Stroud Tigers duke it out with Chandler Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Drumright, they will challenge Mounds at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
