Baseball Game Preview: Carlisle Thundering Herd vs. Bishop McDevitt Crusaders

For the first time this season, Carlisle will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will square off against the Bishop McDevitt Crusaders at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Saturday, Carlisle didn't have quite enough to beat Big Spring and fell 6-5. The Thundering Herd have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lucas Ream was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Finn Frawley, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Ream wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Carlisle lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Bishop McDevitt unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Trinity on Tuesday.

Vince Leoni was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Leoni was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

In other batting news, Dylan DeMuro made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
