Preview: Timber Lake Panthers vs. Bison Cardinals
Timber Lake is 10-0 against Bison since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Timber Lake Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Bison Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. Timber Lake is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
Timber Lake posted their closest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 39-37 win over Kadoka. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Timber Lake has scored all year.
Bison suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They were the victim of a tough 57-34 defeat at the hands of Dupree. Bison has not had much luck with Dupree recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Rylee Veal, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. That was a full 47.1% of Bison's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Colt Kopren, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Timber Lake's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-4. As for Bison, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Timber Lake against Bison in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 63-35 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Timber Lake since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
