Basketball Recap: Lockland Takes a Loss

Lockland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against the Miami Valley Christian Academy Lions, falling 53-24. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-34 back in December of 2024.

Lockland's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaylah Smith, who posted seven points and nine rebounds, and Princes Webster, who had nine points along with six boards and four steals. Webster has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 18 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tiana Allen, who earned three points and five boards.

Lockland's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Miami Valley Christian Academy, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4.

Lockland has already played their next matchup, a 57-27 defeat against Cincinnati Christian on the 3rd. As for Miami Valley Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against St. Bernard-Elmwood Place at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
