Football Recap: Metter Starts Season with Victory Against Tattnall County

Metter had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tattnall County Warriors, sneaking past 21-19. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Warriors are ranked 338th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Among those leading the charge was Michael Ricks, who rushed for 97 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 101 yards on eight of 17 attempts. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Tattnall County's defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Metter will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Swainsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Tattnall County, they will face off against Vidalia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
