Softball Recap: Washington Wins Going Away Against Greene Central

Washington had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Greene Central on Friday. The Pam Pack's pitchers stepped up to hand the Rams a 16-0 shutout. That looming 16-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Pam Pack yet this season.

Emma Orr made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Carly Woolard was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most triples she has posted since back in April of 2024. Addison Miller was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Washington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Washington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Greene Central, they are on a 37-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Washington will square off against rival North Pitt at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Pam Pack's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while the Panthers have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Greene Central is set to take on their familiar foe West Craven at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
