Baseball Recap: North Laurel Beats Rockcastle County for Their Second Straight Victory

North Laurel and Rockcastle County pushed the score to 16-11 the last time they played Rockcastle County, but on Tuesday defenses reigned supreme. The Jaguars never let the Rockets get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. This was a revenge game for the Jaguars: when they faced off against the Rockets back in April, they had to take a 16-11 defeat.

Cooper Parman was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because North Laurel is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-10 otherwise. Parman was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Carter Kelley was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Cam Hinkle, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for North Laurel and bumps their season record up to 13-12. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Rockcastle County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Laurel will welcome Somerset at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rockcastle County, they will host Barbourville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
