Fairmont Senior will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Robert C. Byrd extended their winning streak to three on Saturday. The Eagles put the hurt on Williamstown with a sharp 13-7 win. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly six runs.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Xavier Carvelli, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Cooper Floyd was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Robert C. Byrd always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Fairmont Senior made easy work of East Hardy on Saturday and carried off an 11-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Polar Bears.
Cole Sammons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Sammons was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Fairmont Senior let Cam Peschl and Bigelow Trevor run wild. Peschl got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Trevor went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Trevor has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Canfield, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Robert C. Byrd's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Fairmont Senior, their record is now 9-2.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Robert C. Byrd has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. However, it's not like Fairmont Senior struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Robert C. Byrd might still be hurting after the 22-12 defeat they got from Fairmont Senior in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
