Softball Recap: Del Mar Takes a Loss

Del Mar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the Prospect Panthers, falling 8-2. If the Dons were looking for revenge after losing 18-5 to the Panthers when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Natalie Dixon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. Those 13 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Niarah Aimonetti was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Del Mar's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Prospect, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Del Mar will take on Christopher at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Prospect, they will challenge Oak Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
