Recap: Southington Blue Knights vs. Cheshire Rams
On Thursday, the Southington Blue Knights faced the Cheshire Rams in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Southington took a hard 34-20 fall against Cheshire. Southington gained 66 more yards on the day, but it was Cheshire that made the best of use of them.
Despite the loss, Southington still got an impressive performance from Evan Anderson, who picked up 161 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Cheshire had a senior duo take command as Matt Jeffery rushed for 59 yards and three touchdowns and Jeffery Gonzalez rushed for 131 yards while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.
Southington's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Cheshire, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southington will take on Manchester at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Manchester is on a three-game streak of home wins, Southington a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. As for Cheshire, they will head out on the road to face off against Masuk at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Masuk has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 128 points over their last three contests.
