Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Caitlin Lengefeld and Ella Mack Lead Eaglecrest to Victory

Eaglecrest proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Cherry Creek Bruins 3-2. The win was nothing new for the Raptors as they're now sitting on three straight.

Eaglecrest was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (102-101), but they still managed to win. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 18-25, 17-25, 25-18, 16-14.

Leading Eaglecrest to victory were Ella Mack and Caitlin Lengefeld. Mack had 14 digs and two aces, while Lengefeld had 15 assists and seven digs. That's the most digs Lengefeld has posted since back in September.

Cherry Creek's loss came despite strong showings from Riley Harfman and Aubrey Blake. Harfman had seven digs and two aces, while Blake had 26 digs and two aces. Blake has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last five times she's played. Anya Coren also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Eaglecrest's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Cherry Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Looking ahead, Eaglecrest will head out to face off against Ponderosa at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raptors are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Cherry Creek, they will take on Rock Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
