Softball Game Preview: Pennridge Rams vs. Abington Galloping Ghosts

The Pennridge Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Abington Galloping Ghosts at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Pennridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

If Pennridge beats Abington with 15 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Everything went the Rams' way against Lower Moreland on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.

Destiny Novashinski spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Averi Dockery was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Meghan Holberg was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Meanwhile, Abington was not able to break out of their rough patch last Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of William Tennent. That's two games in a row now that the Galloping Ghosts have lost by exactly two runs.

Abington saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Beal, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Z. Kelly also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Pennridge's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Abington, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
