Basketball Recap: Socrates Academy Comes Up Short

Socrates Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 70-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Union Day Gryphons.

Jazon Reynolds had another great game (as he tends to do), shooting 57% from the field en route to 33 points along with seven boards and six steals for Union Day. The matchup was Reynolds' fourth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Cothran, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Socrates Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Union Day, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Socrates Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on NorthPoint Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Union Day, they have already played their next game, a 67-64 victory against HOPE Academy on the 15th.
