Softball Recap: Shasta Comes Up Short

Shasta and Chico squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Shasta had to settle for second. They lost 15-4 to the Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent loss being a 12-2 defeat back in April.

Ryleigh Scarborough was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Shasta's loss dropped their record down to 11-16. As for Chico, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season.

Shasta does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chico, they will square off against Pleasant Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
