Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon Triumphs

The Mt. Vernon Marauders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the West Washington Senators on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Marauders.

Graci Hines spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lexi D'Angelo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Mikayla Oger also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Mt. Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 7-14. As for West Washington, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5.

Mt. Vernon has already played their next match, a 4-1 loss against Greenfield-Central on the 27th. As for West Washington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 20-0 win against New Washington on the 27th.
