Basketball Recap: Hernando Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Hernando had won four straight home games and Fran Kelly did her part to make it five on Friday. The Hernando Tigers strolled past the DeSoto Central Jaguars with points to spare, taking the game 56-40 thanks in part to Kelly, who went 9 of 18 on her way to 28 points and four steals. The match was her seventh in a row with at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Halann Wallace, who posted six points in addition to eight rebounds and seven blocks. Those seven blocks gave her a new career-high.

Hernando is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for DeSoto Central, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Hernando will head out to take on Horn Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hernando is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season. As for DeSoto Central, they will host Lewisburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. DeSoto Central is facing Lewisburg at the right time seeing as Lewisburg is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
