Preview: Yulee Hornets vs. Baldwin Indians
The Yulee Hornets will head out on the road to square off against the Baldwin Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Yulee suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 68-37 loss at the hands of First Coast. Yulee has struggled against First Coast recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Yulee saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ace Walker, who scored ten points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Naumow, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Baldwin, who are still winless after their 14th match. They were dealt a 75-47 defeat at the hands of Stanton on Friday. While losing is never fun, Baldwin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 766th, while Stanton is ranked 368th).
Yulee bumped their record down to 7-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Baldwin, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.
Yulee beat Baldwin 60-51 in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Yulee since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
