Softball Recap: Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) Starts Season with Win Against Miami Christian

Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Miami Christian Victors. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Stallions also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Ava Stevens made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Stevens was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Stevens wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Leilani Gonzalez, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Westminster Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Miami Christian, they will face off against Florida Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
