Basketball Recap: Valor Preparatory Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Victoria Brumbles and Kaizen Almanzar

Valor Preparatory Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They lost 50-25 to the Piedmont Community Charter Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 0-0 back in January.

Kaizen Almanzar and Victoria Brumbles certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Almanzar posted nine points, while Brumbles earned eight points. That was a full 36% of Valor Preparatory Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Allasha Houser continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Piedmont Community Charter, dropping a double-double with 20 points and 13 boards. Houser is becoming a predictor of Piedmont Community Charter's success: when she posts at least ten rebounds the team is 10-2 (and 3-4 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Julianna East, who had six points along with seven boards and three steals.

Valor Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Valor Preparatory Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 86-12 defeat against Queen's Grant on the 4th. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they have also already played their next contest, a 52-36 loss against Jackson Day on the 4th.
