Basketball Recap: Mattamuskeet Comes Up Short

Mattamuskeet was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Columbia Wildcats. The Lakers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 46-41.

Jayden Sawyer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Columbia, dropping a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sawyer has scored at least a third of Columbia's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaimarques Whitley, who went 8-for-15 on his way to 22 points.

Mattamuskeet's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Columbia, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-16.

As of now, neither Mattamuskeet nor Columbia have any future games scheduled.
